I’ve been getting a lot of requests for eCommerce advice lately, and I’ve started paying attention. I love the idea of selling online but with so much competition out there, I’m not surprised that it’s hard to get lift off on your new shop. One thing I’d like you to ponder, if you are an online retailer, does your online business tell a story?
While I’m WordPress lover, I’m also starting to see the value in off-the-shelf products such as Shopify. As far as running an online shop goes, I confess I know very little, but in recent conversations with the owners of some new concepts for online retail such as Henry & Jane, who sells quality second hand children clothing, and Little flowers, who sell small bunches of flowers for the exceptional price of just $25AUD delivered, I’m really excited about the possibilities.
Something I’ve noticed of my own behavior when I buy online is that I LOVE a good story, and I love to feel somehow connected or passionate about what I’m buying and who I’m buying it from. A few days ago I started reading the Spotify blog, and they dropped this awesome list of reasons having a blog associated with your online business can help attract new customers and aid sales.
Why Every Ecommerce Business Needs a Blog (And 9 Ideas to Get You Started)
I know having an accompanying commentary with your product will lure me in easily, and I also love to know I’m helping local (even if they are local in their own living room!). A bit of free shipping never hurts either.
How do you feel about buying online? What triggers you to buy? Does your online business tell a story? I’d love to know your thoughts and if you’ve discovered any awesome online shops you think need a mention.
